Things I learned from my dog…

To be gentle with all things because the trials and tribulations of this world are heavy.
How to really listen, to hear, and to notice, what is or isn’t being “said”.
How to make room in my heart for all that is love: joy, wonder, nature, simplicity, being in touch
with the earth, and to smell all the trees in the forest.
To be wary… while also happily greeting new people and adventures… and not forget that there are
frogs, birds, deer, dragonflies and even sometimes coyotes and bears out there waiting to eat you.
To ask for what you want.
Repeatedly.
Until you get it.
To give and receive hugs. Contact with other living beings. To nuzzle into love. Every. Time.
That courage and bravery are both inversely and directly proportional to love.
That when I am low, it is time for play. Always.
To sit outside when you can, as much as you can, regardless of the weather or time of day.
To understand and move towards the yeller/crier. That that person is in distress.
That life can be so much more fun with friends and family around….but when you’re done, you’re
done – and it’s time for bed lol.
To wag my tail with utter abandon. To wag it so hard and so often that it dislocates. And to not
worry, it’ll come back.
To let go of chasing that ball. Doing alllll the work all the time isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
To have good boundaries – everyone is not for me.
To rest. Most of all to rest. To soak in the world and just be.
To let go… in drips and drops, and, sometimes, all at once.
And, to run towards what you love with full-out wild abandon.
